Sunny Springs Park is a 9.5 acre neighborhood park located at the corner of Golden Talon Road and Buffalo Drive. Betsy Rhodes Elementary School is adjacent to the park and has access from the school through two existing gates. The park was built in an existing 15- to 18-foot-deep rain water detention basin. Approximately 60 percent of the site is located within the basin, while 40 percent is built at grade.
Amenities include table games, horseshoe pits, shaded play areas, tennis courts, basketball courts, water play area, skateboard activity area and multiple shade structures. A warning system will alert park users as soon as water begins to accumulate within the basin. Existing landscaping along the streets remained, while new landscaping has been designed as drought-tolerant where possible. Much of the planting and hardscape within the basin was designed to handle the occasional flooding that may occur, making the clean-up of any event an easier task.
